Academically, I’ve had problems that I didn’t expect. I would have never imagined myself to have issues like this, given that I am constantly reading and educating others. In fifth grade, we held an award ceremony before heading off to middle school. Students who achieved particular grades throughout the year were rewarded with medals (gold, silver, and bronze).
I was so proud of myself when I received a gold medal for having all A’s. When it came to reading and writing, I excelled. However, when it came to math, I was terrible. My parents even had me attend a summer math program to help me improve my skills. Despite my challenges, I am happy to report that I graduated high school with excellent grades and went on to college.
For some students, academic challenges may be more severe. Some students may struggle with certain subjects, while others may have difficulty learning due to a learning disability. Regardless of the severity, academic challenges can be overcome with hard work and determination.
There are several ways to overcome personal and academic challenges in school. First, it is important to identify the challenges you are facing. Once you have identified the challenges, you can develop a plan to overcome them. For example, if you are struggling in math, you may need to get extra help from a tutor or take a supplemental math class. If you have a learning disability, there are many resources available to help you succeed in school.
In addition to getting extra help, there are other things you can do to overcome personal and academic challenges. Make sure you are staying organized and keeping up with your work. Create a study schedule and stick to it. Get plenty of rest and exercise; both of these things will help improve your focus and concentration. Lastly, believe in yourself! You can overcome any challenge if you set your mind to it.
If you are facing personal or academic challenges in school, remember that you are not alone. There are many resources available to help you succeed. With hard work and determination, you can overcome any obstacle.
I didn’t get any, and I recall being disappointed. I had done all that I could, but it wasn’t enough. If school became harder than usual because of my challenges, I had to teach myself and figure out my own flaws. My mother was a young single parent who came home exhausted after work. School was difficult enough; adding personal difficulties only made things worse. It was important for me to learn how to be patient and keep pushing when everything appeared hopeless.
The first step is acknowledging that you’re facing a challenge. This can be difficult because it requires you to be honest with yourself. Once you’ve identified the challenge, it’s important to develop a plan on how you’re going to overcome it. This might involve reaching out to someone for help or taking some time for yourself. It’s also essential to have realistic expectations and to give yourself grace. Remember that everyone struggles and that it’s okay to ask for help.
If you’re facing personal or academic challenges in school, know that you’re not alone. There are resources and people available to help you. Reach out to a teacher, counselor, or trusted friend for support. Lean on your loved ones and take some time for yourself. Be patient with yourself and have realistic expectations. Most importantly, don’t give up. You can overcome any challenge if you believe in yourself and stay positive.
All was well at Xavier University of LA until I had to help my mother with her schoolwork, eventually I was unable to finish my own papers because I was too busy assisting her. It didn’t help that I was 13 hours away from home, with no family nearby, that I was a transfer student who didn’t have many people ready to meet new pals, and that I still had the burden of last year’s issues on my mind. nI did not want to ruin my academic record by making mistakes or having other things going on in my head.
In my mind, I was destined to fail. I remember one particular day, I had woken up early and just decided to take a walk around campus, I walked by the lake and then sat down on a park bench and just stared at the water for what felt like hours. I thought about how good it would feel to just give up and let the water consume me.
As if fate intervened, a guy who I barely knew from one of my classes sat next to me and we got to talking. He told me his story of how he too had gone through many academic challenges but he never gave up because he wanted to make his family proud. After that day, I decided that I was not going to give up either.
The school year was also an unmitigated disaster. After returning home, staying with my grandmother, and taking community college courses, I completed. I improved my grade and transferred to Bethany College in the spring of 2014; there, I eventually received my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
After School, I worked in various political campaigns as a field organizer and eventually became a campaign manager. School was always difficult for me, I was never the best academically. But I was able to push through and succeed by working hard and never giving up on myself. If you are struggling in school, don’t give up! You can overcome any obstacle if you set your mind to it. School is important, but so is your happiness and well-being. Don’t be afraid to take a break if you need it, but never give up on your dreams!
