Autumn is my favorite season since it’s the time of year when the beautiful colors of fall foliage and all of the autumn activities delight me. Autumn, also known as fall, is a period when things are changing. This is when temperatures outside begin to drop, days grow shorter, nights become longer, yet we seem to have more leisure time with our family and friends.
Autumn is a wonderful season to take walks, go hiking, or just spend time outdoors enjoying the cooler weather. There are also many Autumn festivals and celebrations that add to the excitement of the season.
Autumn is a time of change and new beginnings. For some, it is a time to start fresh with a new school year or a new job. Autumn is also a time to reflect on the past year and set goals for the coming year. For me, Autumn is a reminder that change can be beautiful. As the leaves change color and the days grow shorter, I am reminded that life is constantly changing and that we must embrace those changes.
Wonderful childhood memories of meandering hikes through the mountains, making jack-o’-lanterns, and many other fall activities come back to me.

Autumn is also a great time to visit some of North Georgia’s most popular attractions, like Stone Mountain Park and the Georgia Aquarium. Stone Mountain Park is especially beautiful in Autumn, when the leaves are changing colors. And the Georgia Aquarium is always a fun place to visit, no matter what time of year it is.
During the Fall, my family would go on a lengthy drive each Sunday afternoon, cruising through the Appalachian Mountains to see the stunning variety of colors on display, including vivid reds, golden yellows, and brilliant orange. The leaves would transform color and become the most magnificent just before falling off of the trees.
As a kid, I would love to jump into the piles of leaves that my dad would rake together. The smell of Autumn in the air is one of the best parts of the season. There’s something about it that just feels so comforting and homey.
Even now as an adult, Autumn remains my favorite season. I love all of the wonderful traditions that come along with it like pumpkin picking, hayrides, apple cider, and Halloween. And of course, who could forget Thanksgiving? Autumn is definitely the best time of year!
My family and friends used to go camping at Mr. Nix’s campground when I was a kid. I would be so excited for the fun times to come, especially the hay rides. For what felt like endless hours of delightful bouncing down winding back roads, Mr Nix attached his farm tractor to his farm truck and loaded it with hay bales for us to sit on and take all of the youngsters on hay rides.
The Autumn leaves were falling and the colors were so beautiful. It was a truly magical time that I will never forget.

We were engulfed in a thick blanket of snow, and it was particularly nice to feel the crisp, fresh air on our frozen features. We would circle around the crackling campfire while discussing the hayride we had just taken and drinking a cup of hot chocolate once we returned. The intense heat just felt fantastic going down that it warmed up our chilled bodies. What an excellent way to warm up on a chilly autumn night!
