I went to Taiping last year to attend my cousin’s wedding. She is unlike most of my relatives, who are Christians. So this was the first time I’ve been to a Christian wedding. Her ceremony was held at the Chinese Methodist Church in Taiping. There were two receptions during the wedding: one in Taiping and another in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
I remember clearly that it was a hot day. The sun was scorching and the humidity was high. Although the church’s hall was air-conditioned, all of us were sweating profusely. The bride looked beautiful in her wedding gown with a long train. She wore a simple veil over her face. Her parents beamed with pride when they saw her.
The groom, on the other hand, was sweating buckets! He was visibly nervous but he managed to keep his composure throughout the ceremony.
The wedding ceremony itself lasted for about an hour. It comprised of singing, praying and exchanging of rings between the couple. The whole congregation sang hymns together and it was really heartwarming.
After the ceremony, we went to the first reception which was held in a restaurant in Taiping. The bride and groom changed into their traditional Chinese wedding attire and they looked magnificent! The reception was lovely. There was a lot of good food and the atmosphere was really cheerful.
The second reception was held in Kuala Lumpur a few days later. It was quite a grand affair as it was held in a hotel ballroom. Once again, the couple looked stunning in their traditional Malaysian wedding clothes. They performed the ‘First Dance’ and all the guests cheered for them.
It was a great experience attending my cousin’s wedding. I am glad that I could witness and celebrate such an important milestone in her life.
The couple married when they reached the desired age. Both bride and groom established their marriage a year ago. During the engagement, the bride and groom swapped rings as proof that they were now married. I could see the look on my cousin’s face that day; something I can’t put into words. She was beaming from ear to ear, and it was obvious she was ecstatic and worried at the same time.
The day of the wedding started early in the morning. The bride woke up early to prepare herself and her maids of honor helped her with everything. Her mother, sisters and other relatives were also there to help her. The bride wore a white dress with a veil and looked beautiful. The groom and his groomsmen were also getting ready and they were all dressed in suits.
When everything was ready, the guests started arriving. The ceremony was held in a church and it was a very emotional moment for both the bride and groom. They exchanged their vows and rings in front of their families and friends. After the ceremony, everyone went to the reception where they had dinner and danced all night long.
It was a very beautiful and special day for both the bride and groom. They will always remember their wedding day as one of the best days of their lives.
The wedding was held in Kuala Lumpur, at the bride’s home. Although it was only an engagement, it was celebrated lavishly because my cousin was the final member of her family to marry. Her entire family came all the way from Kota Kinabalu to witness her engagement. On the very same day, the couple revealed that their wedding would take place in September.
As the month of September approached, my whole family started to make preparations for the wedding. The venue was decided to be in Kota Kinabalu which is also the hometown of the bridegroom. All of us were very excited because we would get to go on a vacation and at the same time attend a wedding.
A few days before the wedding, all of us went to Kota Kinabalu. We stayed in a hotel near the wedding venue. The next day, we helped with the decorations and preparations for the reception. It was tiring but it was all worth it because everything looked beautiful in the end.
On the day of the wedding, my cousin looked stunning in her white gown. She was very happy and so was her husband. The whole ceremony went smoothly and before we knew it, the reception started. The newlyweds looked very happy dancing together and we were all very happy for them.
It was a beautiful and unforgettable experience attending my cousin’s wedding. I am glad that I was able to be a part of it and witness one of the most important days in her life.
The date they picked is because they feel that the safest time to get married is during the month of harvest and the month of Christmas, when food is readily available.
The bride’s family would have to give a dowry to the groom’s family. The typical dowry includes money, jewelry, clothes, and other valuable items. The size of the dowry would depend on the wealth of the bride’s family. The groom’s family would also prepare a feast for all the guests attending the wedding. After the sacrament of Matrimony was received, everyone would go to the reception where they would dance and celebrate the new couple’s marriage.
I have attended many weddings, but there is one in particular that stands out to me. It was my cousin’s wedding and it took place in early December. The weather was perfect; not too cold and not too hot. Because it was wintertime, most of the trees were barren, but there was still a lot of greenery. The bride looked beautiful in her white dress and the groom looked handsome in his black tuxedo. They both had huge smiles on their faces as they exchanged their vows.
After the ceremony, we all went to the reception hall where there was a big feast prepared. The tables were decorated with beautiful flowers and the food was absolutely delicious. After we all ate our fill, the dancing began. The bride and groom danced together first, followed by the parents of the bride and groom. Then, all the guests joined in and we danced the night away. It was truly a magical day that I will never forget.
