Family Vacations Essay

In this passage I am going to describe one of my best memories growing up as a child. One family event that I always enjoyed doing and was always patiently waiting on its arrival was the family summer vacation. Our summer vacation wasn’t like many kids but we made the best by going to hang with our grandmother.

My grandmother always lived in a small town near the beach. As a young adult, I never really enjoyed going to the beach because it was just so hot and humid. But as a child, I loved going and building sand castles with my siblings. We would spend all day playing in the sand and water and then come home to our grandmother’s house exhausted.

Every night we would have a big family dinner together. My grandmother is an amazing cook and she would make all of our favorite meals. We would sit around the table and talk and laugh until it was time for bed. I have so many great memories from those summer vacations with my family. They are some of my best memories growing up.

We hope you enjoyed reading about one of my best childhood memories. Family is everything to me and I cherish all the time that I have with them. Summer vacations are a great way to spend quality time together and create lasting memories.

During the summer, when children everywhere desire to spend as much time playing, eating chocolates and ice cream, and seeing the world’s most exotic sites, they all have a similar dream. Their yearning is always fulfilled during the summer holidays. My parents intended to bring me and my siblings to see our grandmother in Elaine, Arkansas over Christmas.

It was always a hassle-free journey because we had relatives in various parts of the country and they never failed to come see us during the summertime. This year, my aunt from Florida came to stay with us for two weeks while my uncle took the rest of the family on a cruise.

My aunt worked as a school teacher and she wanted me to join her for lunch every day. I would go with her and eat in the school cafeteria. Other kids would stare at me because I was eating alone. I didn’t care. I was happy to have somebody to talk to during lunchtime. My aunt would tell me stories about when she was younger and what it was like growing up in Arkansas. She told me that she loved spending summers with her family.

My aunt showed me pictures of when she was my age and she looked so happy in all of them. I asked her if she ever gets homesick and she said, “Of course! But it’s worth it because I get to see my family and spend time with the people I love.” That made me feel better because even though I missed my cousins, I knew that they were having a great time on their cruise.

The day before my aunt left, we went out to lunch together one last time. We talked about how much fun we had and how we would have to do it again next summer. As we said our goodbyes, I realized that even though spending time with family can sometimes be frustrating, it’s always worth it in the end. Because at the end of the day, they’re the people who matter most.

We considered it an excellent idea since going back there for such a short period of time would be wonderful to see again. Going down was the finest thing that ever happened to us because our grandmother lived about 45 minutes away and we wanted to see her as often as possible. So, after school let out for the summer vacation, we ran home and packed our bags, expecting our parents to return home so that they may take us on our summer journey.

We couldn’t wait to go see our grandmother and cousins again because we haven’t seen them in a while. When we finally arrived, it was like a big reunion. We would spend our days playing games, going to the beach, and just catching up with each other. It was always so much fun and we looked forward to it every year. Going on summer vacation with my family is definitely one of my favorite memories.

Our grandmother was overjoyed to see us since it had been a long time since we’d visited her. Our grandmother resided with one of our uncles and an aunt. Due to the fact that she didn’t have enough space for everyone, the home became somewhat crowded, but she was pleased to see us and would regularly shout out, “I love having my grandkids around.”

Although the house was a bit cramped, we enjoyed our stay there. We would always go out and explore the town, go on little adventures and come back home to share stories with our grandmother. She would always sit and listen to us with a smile on her face, genuinely happy to see us enjoying ourselves.

One of the best parts about those summer vacations was sitting around the dinner table together. Our whole family would be there – grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins. It was always so noisy but in the best way possible. We would all be talking over each other, laughing and joking around. And of course, the food was amazing. Our grandmother was an incredible cook and we always looked forward to her meals.

Those summer vacations with my family are some of my favourite memories. I’m so grateful to have been able to spend time with my loved ones, creating happy memories that will last a lifetime.

Now don’t get me wrong, but Elaine is a tiny, lovely hamlet that contains a plethora of stores and attractions to discover. The popular china man shop is where most people go to purchase presents for their families. We used to frequently ask her for small amounts of money so we could go to the store and buy snacks like Little Debbie cakes and beverages. My aunt’s friend came with her daughter named Tasha one day to leave her at our home while she went out of town on business.

At first we were all playing together outside then Tasha began to get homesick so my aunt’s friend had to leave her with us for the day. My mother wasn’t too fond of the idea but she took her in anyways. Tasha was a really sweet girl, around the age of eight I believe, who loved to play with dolls and dress up. We became friends instantly and spent the whole day playing together. The next day my cousins came over as they always do during summer vacation and we went out to the park to play football and basketball.

We always have a lot of fun whenever we’re all together. My aunt’s friend came back to pick up Tasha later that day and we all said our goodbyes. The rest of the summer went by quickly and before we knew it, it was time to go back to school.

I always enjoy spending time with my family, especially during summer vacation. Even though we don’t always have the same interests, we always find a way to have fun and make lasting memories.
