Student Council Essay Example

Hello. My name is George Robins, and I’m the Student Council Representative candidate. Last year’s Student Council members successfully modified the academic calendar to meet our demands, organized national minority student club activities, and improved living conditions in the hostel.

Now I want to continue the work of the Student Council and make our voice heard by the university administration. I am sure that together we can make our university even better!

However, I feel that the Council may need new members to come in and renew the experience of the old ones with their passion. In my opinion, first-year students can show this new technique through their enthusiasm.

What is your opinion?

The Student Council is a representative body of students that helps to run the school. It is made up of representatives from each grade, who are elected by their peers. The Student Council plans and coordinates many activities throughout the year, such as Spirit Week, fundraisers, and dances.

I think that the Student Council is a great way for students to get involved in their school and to have a voice in what goes on. However, I think that the Council needs some refreshment – new representatives are to come in and reinforce the experience of the old ones by their enthusiasm. In my opinion, this new approach can be demonstrated by first-year students. First-years are often eager to get involved in their new school and to make a difference. They can bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the Council, and help to keep things exciting.

I was chosen to run for the student council rep by the freshman of our institution. I suppose they picked me because, as a high school representative and then a year as part of the Freedom Support Act program for future leaders, I had prior involvement. The prohibition of the pay system on PT lessons was one of my accomplishments, so that our pupils didn’t have to make up missed classes when they were sick or away.

My greatest contribution to the student council was during my second year. That was when I finally convinced the authorities to increase the financial aid for students with disabilities, which allowed them to have better access to education and other resources.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have served on the student council, as it has taught me a lot about leadership and how to work with others. It has also given me a chance to help my fellow students in a meaningful way.

To be honest, this “political” and leadership expertise merely heightened my desire to make the world a better place by demonstrating how to do it. Our university, for example, is a wonderful location to study in; nevertheless, it has room for improvement: if automobile circulation on campus grounds were restricted, people who cycle or roller-skate there would benefit.

So, the question is how to make this happen? And that’s where my skills and experience in leadership and public speaking will help a lot. What else can I do for the university? Well, I can unite students who live in the dorms into some kind of team or group so that they could help each other with studying or just spend leisure time together.

Besides, such an initiative would develop a sense of community among them and contribute to the overall atmosphere on campus. As you see, there are many ways to make our university a better place and I am sure that as a member of student council I will find more ideas and be able to implement them successfully.

If there had been a special bus that connected the hostel and the campus, allowing students to avoid double travel by two means of transportation twice a day, those who live in the hostel would benefit. The senior students would have more opportunity for finding a suitable job if their academic hours were spread out over two days rather than five. To put it another way, there are a thousand other minor factors that might make our university an advanced and pleasant place to learn.

Don’t you think that it’s high time to change something?

If so, then we invite you to join the student council and turn your ideas into reality. The student council is a perfect platform for those who want to develop their leadership skills and bring some positive changes to the university. In addition, being a member of the student council gives you an opportunity to get acquainted with other students and make new friends.
