I have a background in science, as my grandmother was an academic in chemistry and physics and both of my parents were college engineers. When I was a kid, my mother showed me a box full of incredibly tiny gears — those that table clocks are made from — explaining what each component did. And I recall thinking,’this is the greatest tiling I’ve ever seen! ‘I have been interested in mechanical structures and the inner workings of man-made and natural things since childhood.
There are a lot of reasons to be interested in science. One reason is that it helps us understand the universe we live in. There are so many things in the sky — stars, planets, galaxies — and they all follow certain rules. By understanding these rules, we can better appreciate the beauty of the night sky.
Another reason to be interested in science is that it helps us solve problems. In our daily lives, we encounter all sorts of problems: from fixing a broken appliance to finding a cure for cancer. Scientific method is a systematic way of problem-solving that can be applied to any problem, big or small.
Lastly, science is just plain interesting! It’s amazing to think about how far we’ve come as a species, and how much we still have to learn. There’s always something new to discover, whether it’s a new planet orbiting a distant star or a new way to treat a disease.
I got interested in natural structures and systems while taking pictures. It’s a remarkable method of recording any natural event, from large to little. It also allows me to examine things up close and wonder about them for as long as I like. When I went to China, I took numerous photographs, and during my first year of college, I did it again.
My father was a physics professor, and my uncle is an astronomer, so I had some early exposure to science. From these relatives I learned that questions about how the universe works are not only interesting, but also important. Scientific method is a powerful tool for answering these questions.

When I was a youngster, my interests focused on visible forms, but as I grew older and studied about linear and nonlinear dynamics, emergence behavior, game theory, neuroscience and spatio-temporal pattern formation in books intended for undergrads or the general public during my first summer in college.
These concepts were not only fascinating in themselves, but also had a unifying quality which made me feel that I was getting some kind of grasp on the “big picture” for the first time. It was this sense of wonder and possibility that led me to pursue a career in science.

There is a level of elegance and mystery to the Scientific Method that I can’t help but be in awe of.Almost everything in our universe appears to function in an orderly, predictable way and science is the method we use to understand why things happen the way they do.
By understanding the Scientific Method, we can begin to unlock the mysteries of our universe.I believe that everyone has their own reason for interest on science. For me, I’m interested in science because it helps me understand how our universe works and it also gives me a greater appreciation for nature.
I enrolled in physics and mathematics courses in order to better comprehend the physical realm. Even though my curriculum selection was based on a strong theoretical foundation, I still prefer physically touching, seeing, and manipulating objects as a method to learn them. In physics, I’ve done lab work and worked in a machine shop, sculpture studio, art museum, and taxidermy workshop.
Scientific method is the best way to understand how the universe works, and I want to be a part of that. I want to understand why things are the way they are, and how we can use that knowledge to make the world a better place. Additionally, I find the beauty in science- both in nature and in equations- absolutely fascinating, and I believe that science is one of the most important ways that we as humans can learn about and appreciate our universe.
